Our Unique Mission

Healthy parents + Healthy children
= Stronger families

A House in Austin provides family support for young families on Chicago’s west side, a community in need. It was founded on one simple idea: every child, every family deserves the same opportunities for high-quality early childhood learning and parent education.

Our vision is that empowered, compassionate, and engaging parents strengthen the future for their families with a positive impact that is passed from generation to generation.

Our mission is to create holistic programs—in a play and nature based parent-child center—which build responsive relationships to lessen the effects of toxic stress and EMPOWER parents to address the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of their children through the fostering of rich language environments, early literacy skills, and nurturing discipline methods in the home for academic and lifelong success.

We're a group of parents, caregivers, professionals and neighbors that believe in empowering each other in the most challenging task given to us — raising our children. We desire to nurture and strengthen the bonds in families and be supported in all we do.
