The Love Fridge at A House In Austin is our way of caring for our neighbors with respect and compassion. Located right outside our family center, the fridge is open 24/7 and stocked with fresh produce, pantry staples, and prepared meals — free for anyone in need, no questions asked.
We believe everyone deserves access to good food, and we recognize that rising grocery costs and limited local options make that harder than ever. The Love Fridge ensures families have a safe, judgment-free way to get what they need, when they need it. Visit the fridge! A House In Austin 533 North Pine Avenue Chicago, IL 60644 See us in action! Honoring Maia’s Vision
The Love Fridge at A House in Austin was advocated for by Maia, a parent leader and the creative force behind our community garden program—her own brainchild that has flourished each summer under her care and leadership. Seeing how we serve families, Maia encouraged us to bring the Love Fridge to our space as a way for neighbors to access fresh food with dignity.
Our co-ED model—with Lynette and Becky—was birthed from our founder’s desire to place community voices in leadership. Maia’s advocacy continues that legacy: when parents lead, communities thrive.
“When I think about this fridge and fridges like it, I think about The Lord and his love for us. Not just because he tells us in 1 John 4:8 how he is love, but because it gives us an opportunity to glean. It’s a way to give humbly, and graciously be humbled.”— Maia
Thank you, Maia, for seeing what’s possible and trusting A House in Austin as a safe, welcoming place for families to give and receive support.

How It Works |
- Stocked Weekly: The fridge is filled with donations from The Love Fridge Foundation, Forty Acres Fresh Market produce boxes, and generous contributions from neighbors and local businesses.
- Open to All: Anyone is welcome to take what they need or share what they can.
- Community-Led: Volunteers help clean, organize, and restock the fridge to keep it running smoothly year-round.

We can’t do this without community hands and hearts. There are several ways you can help:
